THE FIRST-EVER ROXBOROUGH PARK ONLINE SURVEY WILL BE IN YOUR E-MAIL INBOX BY SUNDAY MORNING, JULY 5, 2009! The Survey will take only a few minutes to complete. Just follow the simple directions in the e-mail you will receive. A survey technology is used, BigPulse.com, that ensures security and confidentiality. The Foundation’s long-range goal is to encourage on-line survey and elections because they provide efficiencies and savings over traditional, mail-based approaches. Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) if you experience a problem with the electronic survey: WHAT IF I DON’T RECEIVE MY E-MAIL INVITATION WITH MY AUTO SIGN-IN LINK BY JULY 5TH? If you have not received your invitation email, check the information below. If that does not solve the problem, contact

WHAT IS THE AUTO SIGN-IN LINK AND HOW DOES IT WORK? The Opinion Survey invitation e-mail contains an auto sign-in link. This link is connected to your personal user account in the BigPulse.com database. Do not forward or share this email invitation to anyone because, by doing so, anyone who uses that link will be able to participate in the survey or respond to the survey on your behalf. - Click on the link in the invitation e-mail or copy and paste the URL provided in your internet browser window (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari,etc.).
- You will be directed to the Opinion Survey introduction page. At the bottom of the page is the “proceed” button. When you are ready to fill out the survey form click the “proceed” button.
- Fill out the one page survey form and click the “submit” button.
- You will be re-directed to response receipt and have the opportunity to check your responses and go back and make any changes or corrections.
- The survey form can only be submitted once. Once submitted, the BigPulse database records that you have participated in the opinion survey and also records your responses. The database uses Absolute Anonymous storage (A0). This means there is nothing in the database linking your responses to your user account. Even the BigPulse engineers cannot determine how anyone voted by viewing the database. It is not possible to change your vote or vote again once you have submitted your responses.
CAN MY E-MAIL END UP IN MY SPAM OR BULK MAIL FOLDER? Yes, it is possible. Depending on the settings of your email program (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) or email provider (AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.), your invitation and auto sign-in link email may have been sent to your spam or bulk email folder instead of your inbox. If you have not received your survey invitation by July 5, 2009, check your Spam or Bulk Mail folder. SHOULD I ADD BigPulse.com TO MY ADDRESS BOOK OR EMAIL SAFE LIST? Most email providers or spam-filtering software programs give you the option to add companies to an email safe list or address book. Check with your email provider to ensure you receive future BigPulse.com email. PAPER SURVEYS WILL BE MAILED THURSDAY JULY 2ND. IF YOU RECEIVE A PAPER SURVEY, PLEASE RETURN IT TO THE FOUNDATION OFFICE BY 8:00AM, MONDAY - JULY 20TH. |

Mary Ann Bonnell Presents: Co-existing with Coyotes |
|
Mary Ann Bonnell is a Senior Natural Resources Specialist at Aurora Parks and Open Space. Ms. Bonnell gave a very interesting presentation on living in an urban interface environment with coyotes. Attendees learned that coyote behavior is unique in many ways. One of the most important things residents can do to live in harmony with coyotes is to “haze” them when they come into human territory. You should make a lot of noise, clap your hands, throw stones at them, make yourself very big or otherwise illustrate to them that there are spaces that they are not welcome. Coyotes will respect that difference in territory and live as they are intended to do. Virtually all coyote encounters are due to the coyotes becoming too comfortable in human surroundings. Never, never feed coyotes or any other wildlife. They know how to survive in their natural habitat and human interaction harms, not helps, these animals. They are not pets and should not be treated as such. Think about the activities that you do around your home that may appear as if you are intentionally feeding the animals. Bring your bird feeders in at night. By feeding the birds you may also be feeding bears, foxes and coyotes as well as other animals that should not be encouraged to come into our habitat.
